The Pride of Oklahoma

The Pride of Oklahoma is the University of Oklahoma’s iconic marching band, founded in 1904, even before Oklahoma became a state. What started as a small student-led pep band with members from both the university and the Norman community has grown into a 300-plus member ensemble known for its spirited performances and deep-rooted traditions. The band is famous for energizing crowds with classics like “Boomer Sooner,” and it plays a pivotal role in game days, especially with its signature pregame show and the thunderous “go-go” that kicks off festivities at OU football games.

Over its long history, the Pride of Oklahoma has become a symbol of school spirit, excellence, and community connection. It earned national recognition with the prestigious Sudler Trophy in 1987, often considered the “Heisman of collegiate marching bands.” Today, the Pride continues to innovate while honoring tradition, marching with hundreds of student musicians from all campus colleges, and bringing unmatched energy to every performance both at home in Norman and on the road.
