Asexuals

The Asexuals were a hardcore punk band from Beaconsfield, Quebec, that emerged in the 1980s as a key part of the Montreal punk scene. Formed in 1983, the band was initially led by singer John Kastner, who played a significant role in promoting the Montreal hardcore scene through extensive touring across Canada, the United States, and Europe. During Kastner's tenure, the Asexuals released several notable albums, including *Featuring: The Asexuals*, *Be What You Want*, and *Contemporary World*. After Kastner left the band in 1987, the Asexuals transitioned into an alternative sound.

John Kastner went on to form other influential bands, such as the Doughboys and All Systems Go!, but the Asexuals continued to contribute to the Montreal music scene. Their legacy is marked by their early contributions to the punk genre and their role in shaping the local music landscape. The band's discography includes a variety of releases that reflect their evolution over time, including *Brave New Waves Session* and *Greater than Later...*.
