The Great Spy Experiment is a band that hails from Singapore, renowned for its energetic and fusion of various musical styles that include indie rock, pop, and electronica. Formed in 2004, the band—comprising vocalist and guitarist Saiful Idris, guitarist Fandy Razak, keyboardist Khairyl Hashim, bassist Maguire Jian, and drummer Firdaus Wahab—quickly gained recognition for their innovative sound and dynamic stage presence. The group's anthemic choruses and catchy hooks, coupled with thoughtful lyrics, have won them a devoted following both within their home country and across regional borders.
Though they disbanded in 2015, their musical legacy in the Singapore scene remains influential. Some of their most notable works include their debut album "Flower Show Riots," released in 2007, which saw tracks like "Class A Love Affair" and "The Great Decay" achieve significant airplay. "Litmus," which came out in 2013, also showcased the band's evolution in sound and proved their capacity to adapt and experiment. Known for their passionate and memorable live performances, The Great Spy Experiment immortalized the energy of their concerts through live album releases such as "Litmus Live". Even after they disbanded, the band's influence continued with their posthumous releases "Night Lights" and the double single "Sanctuary / Secrets" further cementing their legacy in the Singaporean music scene as pioneers and innovators.
