DWalk, born DeAndre Walker, is a Kansas City hip-hop artist known for his hyperlocal anthems and Midwest-rooted sound. The 29-year-old rapper first gained momentum with his 2019 breakout hit “Freak Block Tales” – a playful nod to his 69th and Paseo neighborhood that organically surpassed one million YouTube plays without a music video. He built his early career through DIY hustle, recording in cousins’ basement studios and burning CDs before transitioning to online mixtapes around 2013. His 2022 mixtape *The Biggest 6* marked a new chapter, featuring collaborations with producers like Club Godzilla and catching the attention of Quality Control Music, who saw him as a potential standard-bearer for Kansas City’s distinct hip-hop identity. DWalk credits his musical foundation to family influences, including his late uncle’s 90s rap group and his mother’s love of R&B.
