Black Pumas

Black Pumas is an American psychedelic soul band based in Austin, Texas, formed in 2017. The band was founded by producer and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Quesada and singer-songwriter Eric Burton. Quesada was seeking a vocalist for new musical project when he discovered Burton's raw vocal talents at a local bar's open-mic night. Burton's emotive singing style and Quesada's gritty, soulful production technique quickly meshed to form the backbone of Black Pumas' distinctive sound.

The band's self-titled debut album, released in 2019, was met with critical acclaim and was subsequently nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist at the 2020 ceremony. Following up with an expanded deluxe edition of their debut, including new tracks and live sessions, Black Pumas continued gaining momentum and a dedicated fanbase. They are known for their energized live performances, as captured in their "Capitol Cuts (Live From Studio A)" release. Their blend of soul, funk, and rhythm and blues, complete with storytelling, is encapsulated in their releases like "Colors (Hypnotic Brass) b/w Sugar Man" and festive takes like "Spotify Singles - Holiday". True to their collaborative spirit, they often bring fresh takes to songs like "Chronicles of a Diamond" and "Strangers (From 'Life In A Day')", showcasing their ability to transcend genre boundaries.
