State Radio is an alternative rock band that originated from Boston, Massachusetts, formed by Chadwick Stokes (also known as Chad Urmston), Chuck Fay, and Mike “Mad Dog” Najarian. The band emerged in 2002 after Stokes, previously of the band Dispatch, sought a new musical avenue to follow his politically charged and socially conscious songwriting. The music of State Radio is characterized by its blend of punk, rock, and reggae influences, coming together to create a sound that is both unique and compelling, often with a strong message.
Over the years, State Radio has released several albums that showcase their commitment to addressing issues such as social justice, humanitarian causes, and political activism. Notable releases include "Year of the Crow" and "Let It Go," both of which include bonus track versions that offer fans additional insight into the creative process of the band. Their album "Rabbit Inn Rebellion" further solidifies their narrative-driven approach, with the bonus track version and a track by track commentary offering fans a deeper understanding of the music. Live albums such as "Live In Boston" and "Live At The Armory" capture the band's dynamic and energetic performances, which contribute significantly to their reputation as an impassioned and engaging live act. Despite a hiatus, as well as lineup changes with Mad Dog's departure in 2012, State Radio's music continues to resonate with fans who are drawn to their blend of incisive lyrics and infectious rhythms.
