Young Rival is a Canadian indie rock band hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, known for their energetic brand of garage-influenced rock music. The band, originally formed under the name The Ride Theory, was composed of Aron D’Alesio on vocals and guitar, Noah Fralick on drums, and John Smith (later replaced by Mike Miller) on bass. They adopted the name Young Rival in 2007, signifying a fresh start and a move towards a new, more mature sound. Over the years, they've gained a reputation for creating music that deftly balances classic rock 'n' roll grooves with a contemporary indie edge.
Their self-titled album, "Young Rival," released in 2010, put them on the map with its dynamic range of raw, expressive tracks that exhibit their tight musicianship and keen sense for melody. The band's follow-up album, "Stay Young," released in 2012, continued to build their legacy, showcasing a band that had honed its craft with an array of infectious hooks and gritty riffs. Venturing further into their unique sound, Young Rival’s 2015 release "Interior Light," which includes the singles “Interior Light” and “That’s Chemistry,” exhibited a more psychedelic pop-oriented approach without sacrificing their rock roots. Their latest work, such as the single "Strange Light" and "Let Me Go On," released in 2016, further reflects the band's evolution and willingness to experiment, while also retaining the vibrant energy that has characterized their music since the beginning.
