G-Unit

G-Unit, short for Guerrilla Unit, is a hip-hop group hailing from New York City that emerged on the music scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The group was originally formed by longtime friends and rappers 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, and Lloyd Banks. They quickly made a name for themselves in the underground mixtape scene with their gritty lyrics and hard-hitting beats, reflecting the tough streets of South Jamaica, Queens where they grew up.

G-Unit's big break came in the wake of 50 Cent's astronomical rise to fame following his debut album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" in 2003. Subsequently, the group released their debut album, "Beg For Mercy," in November of that year, solidifying their place in the rap industry with hits such as "Stunt 101" and "Poppin' Them Thangs." Over the years, G-Unit has seen changes in its lineup with the addition of artists such as Young Buck and The Game, though the latter would part ways with the group due to disputes. Renowned for their aggressive style and cohesive group dynamic, G-Unit went on to release a second studio album, "T.O.S. (Terminate on Sight)" in 2008. Following a hiatus, they reunited for the release of two EPs, "The Beauty of Independence" in 2014 and "The Beast Is G Unit" in 2015, reminding fans of their enduring chemistry and impact on the rap game.
