Infa Riot is an English punk rock band that burst onto the music scene during the early 1980s, solidifying their place within the street punk subgenre. Formed in 1980, the group hailed from the United Kingdom's punk hotbed, London, and initially consisted of vocalist Lee Wilson, guitarist Barry Damery, Wilson's brother Mark on bass, and drummer Floyd Wilson. They quickly gained notoriety for their energetic live performances and were associated with the Oi! movement, which sought to bring punk back to the working classes. Their music combined the raw aggression of punk with the sing-along choruses and social commentary typical of Oi!'s style.
Their most notable release, "Still out of Order," hit the shelves in 1982 and became a classic in the punk community, containing favourites such as "Each Dawn I Die" and "Riot Riot." Despite a relatively brief initial run that ended in 1985 due to a waning interest in the Oi! subgenre, Infa Riot left a lasting mark with their confrontational, melodic anthems. They reformed in the 21st century, reigniting their legacy and catering to a new generation of punk enthusiasts. 'In For A Riot' and 'The Best of Infa Riot' serve as comprehensive retrospectives, collecting the band's most iconic tracks, while their 'Live And Loud' albums capture the raucous energy of their onstage presence, cementing Infa Riot's reputation as stalwarts of the British punk tradition.
