The City of Birches is an indie folk band from Portland, Oregon. The band was formed in 2010 by singer-songwriter Alex Melton and guitarist Chris King. The band's sound is characterized by its intricate fingerpicking guitar work, soaring harmonies, and introspective lyrics. The City of Birches has released four full-length albums, including their most recent, "Tidewater," which was released in 2022.
