Kareem Kalokoh

Kareem Kalokoh is a hip hop artist and co-founder of the Athens-based collective ATH KIDS. Born and raised in Athens, he began making music at the age of 17 and has since become a notable figure in modern Greek hip hop. His style blends contemporary electronic sounds with classic hip hop influences, often rapping in English, which adds a fresh and distinctive voice to the Greek music scene. Kalokoh and his collective have gained recognition for representing a new generation of young Athenians, including many from immigrant backgrounds, who are reshaping perceptions of their city through music and culture. The ATH KIDS project, launched in 2015, has been pivotal in bringing Athens' hip hop scene to wider European audiences, with Kareem himself collaborating with both local talents and international artists, continually pushing the creative boundaries of his sound.

Kalokoh’s creative journey includes notable mixtapes like *ATH2090s* and other solo projects, reflecting his growth and evolving artistry. Despite challenges like economic crises and the global pandemic, he has maintained a strong commitment to his craft, often using lockdown periods to deepen his studio work and collaborations. His music captures the duality of living in a city marked by contrasts, blending personal and socio-political narratives with an experimental beat-making approach. Kareem Kalokoh stands as a key figure in the fusion of Athens’ urban culture with global hip hop currents, embodying a forward-thinking and vibrant musical identity.
