Born on August 26, 1943, in Rio de Janeiro, he is the son of the legendary composer Dorival Caymmi and former singer Stella Maris. Dori's musical journey began with piano lessons at the age of eight, and he later studied at the Conservatorio Lorenzo Fernandez. His career took off in 1959 when he debuted on a TV show with his sister Nana Caymmi. Dori has made significant contributions to the genres of bossa nova, MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), and samba, collaborating with influential artists like Tom Jobim, Elis Regina, and Milton Nascimento. His songs have been recorded by both Brazilian and international artists, including Sarah Vaughan and Natalie Cole. Dori moved to the USA in 1990 and released several albums, further solidifying his reputation as a versatile and celebrated musician.
