Anika

Anika, whose full name is Annika Henderson, is a notable figure in the world of alternative and experimental music, both as a solo artist and as a member of the band Exploded View. British by birth but based in Berlin, Anika has carved out a distinctive niche for herself with her politicized lyrics and a sound that amalgamates elements of dub, post-punk, and electronica. Her vocals, often compared to those of Nico for their distinctive, deadpan delivery, lend a haunting atmosphere to her music.

Anika first appeared on the music scene with her self-titled debut album 'Anika' released in 2010, which included a notable cover of Yoko Ono's "Yang Yang", a track that, like others, received a fresh spin with a remix by Vex Ruffin. The success of this album led to her releasing the 'Anika EP' in 2013, further solidifying her place in the alternative music pantheon. Her sound has continued to evolve and captivate audiences, with releases like 'Change' and the politically charged single 'Rights' reinforcing her commitment to addressing pressing societal issues through her music. Additionally, 'Finger Pies' showcases her ability to blend edgy, thought-provoking lyrics with infectious rhythms. With 'Change: The Remixes' and the Planningtorock remix of 'Planningtochange', Anika has kept her sound fresh and continues to interact creatively with other artists, highlighting her collaborative spirit. Anika’s presence in the music world is not only noted for her distinctive style but also for her willingness to experiment and push boundaries, making her a compelling figure in contemporary music.
