Spineshank, an American nu metal band formed in February 1996 in Los Angeles, California, quickly gained traction in the heavy music scene with their aggressive blend of metal riffs, industrial textures, and hardcore elements. The band's lineup initially featured Jonny Santos as the lead vocalist, Mike Sarkisyan on guitar, Robert Garcia on bass, and Tommy Decker on drums. They earned their reputation through relentless touring and their dynamic, aggressive live shows. Their sound, characterized by a fusion of aggressive metal and electronic elements, anchored them as one of the prominent bands in the nu metal genre in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The group released their debut album, "Strictly Diesel," in 1998, which began their ascent into prominence with a sound that differentiated them from their peers. This was followed by "The Height of Callousness" in 2000, a breakthrough record that saw them peaking on the Billboard 200 while solidifying their position in the nu metal community. This success brought them a Special Edition re-release of the album. With hits like "Synthetic" and "New Disease," Spineshank garnered wide attention, and airplay continuing their momentum with 2003's "Self-Destructive Pattern," which featured singles like "Smothered." Despite their rising success, internal tension led to the departure of Santos, and the band experienced a hiatus. After a period of lineup changes and experimentation, the group reunited with Jonny Santos and released "Anger Denial Acceptance" in 2012, signaling a matured sound and lyrical depth that tackled personal themes and internal struggles. Despite its positive reception, the album would mark their latest studio effort, with the band becoming less active in subsequent years.
