Seabear is an Icelandic indie/folk band that originated as the solo project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sindri Már Sigfússon, also known as Sin Fang. The band originally formed in 2003 in Reykjavik and gained recognition for their subtle blend of acoustic instrumentation with whimsical and introspective lyricism. Seabear's music has a distinctive ethereal quality that is deeply rooted in the indie folk tradition, with an expansive and orchestral approach that envelops listeners in its sonic warmth.
The group started gaining momentum with their 2007 debut album "The Ghost That Carried Us Away," which showcased their signature blend of tender melodies and comforting, layered sounds. Over time, Seabear expanded from a solo project into a seven-member collective, allowing for richer and more complex arrangements, as evidenced in their 2010 album "We Built A Fire." With a series of EPs and singles, including "Lion Face Boy / Cold Summer" and "Don't Be Sad," they continued to build their international following. Whether through somber introspection or more upbeat tracks, Seabear's music consistently enchants with its heartfelt storytelling and atmospheric depth, making them an enduring fixture in the indie folk scene.
