Milena Casado

Milena Casado is a Spanish composer, flugelhorn, and trumpet player known for her unique and personal approach to music, blending tradition with innovation. Born in Spain, Casado's early life and experiences as a Black woman navigating predominantly white spaces have deeply influenced her artistry. Her music has been shaped by the jazz greats she admires, such as Charlie Parker and Ella Fitzgerald, and she has performed with renowned artists like Terri Lyne Carrington, Aaron Parks, Kris Davis, and Vijay Iyer. Casado has graced stages at top venues including Carnegie Hall, The Village Vanguard, and the Kennedy Center. She leads her own quintet and has recently released her debut album, *Reflection of Another Self*, which explores themes of self-discovery, trauma, and resilience.
