Rudiger Lotter

Rüdiger Lotter is a German violinist and conductor, born in 1969 in Arnsberg, known for his expertise in music from the 17th and 18th centuries. He studied violin and musicology in Düsseldorf and Cologne, and has gained international recognition as a leading Baroque violinist and conductor. As the founder and director of the Hofkapelle München, an acclaimed period-instrument ensemble, he has been awarded the Echo Klassik in 2015 and is celebrated for his stylistic mastery and expressive interpretations.

Lotter has a rich history of performing and conducting at major European music festivals and with notable orchestras and choirs. His collaborations include working with renowned singers like Christiane Karg and Max Emanuel Cencic. His recordings, including Heinrich Ignaz Biber’s "Rosary Sonatas" and Bach’s "Brandenburg Concertos," have been critically praised as some of the finest available. Since 2023, he has been a professor of violin, historical performance practice, and orchestral conducting at the Academy of Music in Darmstadt.
