Tony Miceli

Tony Miceli is an acclaimed jazz vibraphonist born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1960, who grew up in Willingboro, New Jersey. He started his musical journey with classical guitar before expanding to piano, trumpet, and drums, ultimately finding his true calling with the vibraphone during his college years at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he now also teaches. Since the 1980s, Miceli has been a vibrant fixture on the jazz scene, known for his phenomenal virtuosity, ranging from fiery runs to delicate ballad improvisations, earning comparisons to vibraphone legends like Milt Jackson and Gary Burton.

Miceli has led groups such as Monkadelphia, which he co-founded, and has collaborated with many top jazz artists including David Liebman and Ken Peplowski. He is also a member of ensembles like the PhilOrch Jazz Ensemble and the Adam Unsworth Ensemble. Beyond performing, he is a respected educator, conducting master classes worldwide and teaching at prestigious institutions including the Curtis Institute of Music, the University of the Arts, and Temple University. Miceli is also dedicated to vibraphone promotion through initiatives like vibesworkshop.com and the World Vibes Congress, solidifying his role as a key figure in both performance and education of the instrument.
