Born in Havana in 1922, he crafted some of the most beloved boleros of the 20th century, including the timeless classic *Contigo en la Distancia*, which has been performed by icons like Luis Miguel and Christina Aguilera. His poetic lyrics and sophisticated melodies set him apart, blending Cuban romanticism with jazz-influenced harmonies. Throughout his career, he remained an influential figure in Latin American music, leaving behind a legacy of deeply emotional and beautifully crafted songs.
