Crooked Fingers

Crooked Fingers is the solo project of Eric Bachmann, formerly of the indie rock band Archers of Loaf. After the dissolution of Archers of Loaf in 1998, Bachmann shifted musical directions, moving away from the jagged post-punk edges of his former band towards a more subdued and melancholic sound that underpinned Crooked Fingers' creations. Founded in the same year, Crooked Fingers established itself over the years as a folk-inflected, baroque pop outfit, known for its lush storytelling and Bachmann's distinctive, gravelly baritone.

The discography of Crooked Fingers reflects a rich evolution of style and composition, with albums such as "Red Devil Dawn" (2003) and "Dignity and Shame" (2005) drawing critical acclaim for their emotive narratives and intricate arrangements. Bachmann, through Crooked Fingers, has managed to amass a dedicated following appreciative of his craftsmanship and authenticity. Releases like "Breaks in the Armor" (2011) and its deluxe version reveal an artist at ease with maturity, showcasing stripped-down, poignant songwriting. Despite a sometimes rotating cast of supporting musicians, Crooked Fingers' essence and spirit remain consistently tethered to Bachmann's vision—a testament to his ability to evolve as a songwriter while maintaining a sound that is recognizably heartfelt and enduring.
