The Quiets

The Quiets are a Finnish instrumental rock band known for their work in the rautalanka genre, which is a style of Finnish rock music heavily influenced by surf rock and other instrumental genres. Formed in Helsinki during the 1970s, the band initially started as a quartet and later expanded to a quintet in 1984 with the addition of a keyboardist. Their repertoire includes rautalanka and twist arrangements of various compositions, such as those by Edith Piaf, Tchaikovsky, and Henry Mancini. The Quiets are also notable for using vintage low-power tube amplifiers and adopting a style reminiscent of the early 1960s, with their attire reflecting this era. Over the years, they have released numerous albums, including *La Strada*, *Sound of The Quiets*, *Travellin' with The Quiets*, *More*, and their self-titled albums.

The band's current lineup includes Sam Saarva, Timo Sinivaara, Ben Engblom on guitars, Ari Sinivaara on bass, Rudi Ryynänen on drums, and Tuomo Gröhn on electric organ. Their music often captures the nostalgic essence of early rock while maintaining a unique Finnish twist. The Quiets have been part of the resurgence of rautalanka in the 1980s, alongside other notable bands like Agents and Laika & The Cosmonauts.
