Orchestra Filarmonica della Calabria

The Orchestra Filarmonica della Calabria was founded in 2011 as the resident orchestra of the Festival del Mediterraneo and is supported by the Conservatorio Statale di Musica “P. I. Tchaikovsky” in Nocera Terinese, Italy. Since its inception, the orchestra has been highly active, performing in prestigious venues across Italy such as the Teatro Tendastrisce in Rome, Teatro Greco in Taormina and Siracusa, and the Teatro Politeama in Catanzaro, where it has been the stable orchestra for the opera season since 2018. They have also toured internationally, including a notable 2016 China tour featuring operas like *Le Nozze di Figaro* and *Turandot*, and have collaborated with renowned soloists like José Carreras and many other international artists.

Known for their versatility, the orchestra performs a wide range of repertoire from classical staples to contemporary works and has participated in numerous festivals such as the Festival delle Orchestre di Roma and Festival Euro Mediterraneo. Under conductors like Filippo Arlia, they have recorded impressive works such as Stravinsky’s *The Rite of Spring* and *The Firebird*. Their collaborations include orchestral and operatic performances that highlight their dynamic presence in the classical music scene.
