The Orchestre d'Auvergne, now known as the Orchestre national Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, is a renowned French string ensemble based in Clermont-Ferrand. Founded in 1981 through the initiative of the French Ministry of Culture, the Auvergne Regional Council, and the city of Clermont-Ferrand, it has evolved into a distinctive voice in the French musical landscape. It has been led by notable conductors such as Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Arie van Beek, Roberto Forés Veses, and currently Thomas Zehetmair.
