Månegarm

Månegarm is a Swedish Viking/black metal band hailing from Norrtälje. The band was originally formed in 1995 by Svenne Rosendal, Jonas Almquist, and Pierre Wilhelmson under the name Antikrist. However, they changed their name to Månegarm, which comes from the Norse mythology and refers to a wolf that hunts down the moon during Ragnarök, reflecting the band's incorporation of Nordic themes and mythology into their music.

Over the years, Månegarm has been a forerunner in the Viking/pagan metal scene, consistently blending elements of black metal with traditional Nordic folk music. Throughout their career, they have crafted a distinctive sound characterized by aggressive guitars, harsh vocals, and melodic violin interludes. Lyrical themes often revolve around Norse legends, Viking lore, and paganism, painting vivid tales of a bygone era. Their more recent releases, like "Ynglingaättens Öde" and "Fornaldarsagor," continue this tradition with epic storylines and a bold fusion of metal ferocity and folk nuances, proving that Månegarm has remained true to its roots while evolving with each album. The incorporation of various guest musicians such as Jonne Järvelä of Korpiklaani fame on the track "Stridsgalten" has also allowed Månegarm to expand their sound and reach. Through their dynamic approach to music and storytelling, Månegarm has successfully captivated audiences across the world and secured a loyal following within the metal community.
