New Hellenic Quartet

The New Hellenic Quartet, founded in 1991, is Greece's most renowned chamber ensemble. Known for their diverse repertoire, they perform both classical string quartets and works by Greek composers. The quartet consists of Georgios Demertzis and Dimitris Chandrakis on violin, David Bogorad on viola, and Angelos Liakakis on cello. They have an extensive international touring history, performing in Europe, the U.S., China, and Brazil, and have participated in notable festivals such as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Beethoven Festwochen. The New Hellenic Quartet has also been recognized for their recordings, including those of Nikos Skalkottas' and Yorgo Sicilianos' quartets, which have gained international acclaim. In 2001, they were awarded the "Great Prize for Music" from the Union of Greek Critics for Music and Drama.

The New Hellenic Quartet's recent releases include a variety of chamber works and string quartets by different composers, reflecting their commitment to highlighting both Greek and international classical music. Their performances have been well-received globally, and they continue to contribute significantly to the world of chamber music.
