Mikk Üleoja is a renowned Estonian choir conductor and singer, born on January 2, 1970, in Tallinn. He comes from a family of musicians, with his parents Ene and Ants Üleoja also being involved in music. Mikk Üleoja has been the chief conductor and artistic director of the Estonian National Male Choir since the 2011/2012 season. He has a rich background in music, having graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and later completing his Master's degree there. Üleoja has conducted several notable choirs, including the St. Michael's Boys' Choir and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.
Üleoja's work with the Estonian National Male Choir has led to several notable releases, including albums like "In paradisum" featuring Galina Grigorjeva's music and "Te lucis ante terminum" with works by Henrik Ødegaard. His collaborations have also included the album "Luule, see ei tule tuulest" (Poetry, It Doesn’t Come from the Wind), which received the annual award of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia. Mikk Üleoja was named Conductor of the Year in 2014 and, along with the Estonian National Male Choir, received a national culture award in 2015 for outstanding contributions to music.
