Horo Orchestra, also known as Orchestra Horo Ruse, is a Bulgarian folk music ensemble established in 1962 as part of the dance group "Naiden Kirov" in the city of Ruse. Over the decades, they have created and performed more than 300 folk dances and songs, many of which are regularly broadcast on Bulgarian National Radio and other public radio stations. The orchestra specializes in traditional Bulgarian folk music, particularly focusing on the rhythms and melodies of the North Bulgarian region, which are known for their distinctive asymmetrical beats and rich cultural heritage.
Their discography includes albums such as *North-Bulgarian Mood* and *Bulgarian Folk Music*, showcasing authentic Bulgarian folk sounds that capture vibrant communal dances called "horo," which are traditionally performed at festive gatherings in linked circles and chains. The orchestra's music highlights the energetic and complex steps typical to men's dances and the more subdued style of women's dances, reflecting the deep-rooted customs of Bulgarian folk rituals.
