Jo Boxers

Jo Boxers were a British band that emerged in the early 1980s with a catchy blend of new wave, soul, and pop. Formed by members of the punk band Subway Sect along with American singer Dig Wayne, Jo Boxers quickly gained attention with their high-energy sound and stylish, upbeat image. They broke through in 1983 with their hit single "Boxerbeat," followed by the infectious "Just Got Lucky," which became their biggest success, even charting in the U.S. Their debut album, *Like Gangbusters*, captured their signature mix of punchy rhythms and Motown-inspired melodies.

Despite their initial success, Jo Boxers only lasted a few years, releasing a second album, *Skin and Bone*, before disbanding in the mid-'80s. However, their music has endured, with "Just Got Lucky" remaining a favorite on retro playlists and even appearing in movies and TV shows. Their unique combination of sharp songwriting and energetic performances ensures that Jo Boxers still hold a special place in '80s music history.
