GATAFIERA is a dynamic Vienna-based Latinx duo composed of queer trans artists Hoesé and Luí Gabriel, blending their Peruvian and Brazilian roots to create a genre-defying mix of reggaeton, baile funk, drum and bass, and rock. Their music—delivered in Spanish, Portuguese, German, and English—centers marginalized voices, tackling themes like gender fluidity, colonization’s generational trauma, and queer liberation, as heard in tracks like *Perreo Deculonizado*. More than musicians, they’re activists forging safe spaces through bold performances and lyrics that challenge cis-hetero norms in urban Latin music.
Formed in response to Austria’s lack of diverse representation in Latin genres, the duo merges Hoesé’s multidisciplinary art and Luí Gabriel’s decade-long music expertise to craft emotionally charged anthems that invite both dance and introspection. Their work reclaims reggaeton as a platform for marginalized identities, emphasizing playfulness and cultural pride.
