@Peace was a New Zealand-based alternative hip hop group known for their eclectic style and philosophical lyrics, which garnered them a dedicated following within the underground music scene. The collective originated in Auckland and became active around the early 2010s. Their lineup consisted of a range of talented artists including Tom Scott, who also fronts the group Home Brew, Lui Tuiasau, Christoph El Truento, Dandruff Dicky, and B Haru. Their sound is characterized by a fusion of jazz, soul, and electronic music, which provides a backdrop for introspective and often existential wordplay.
The group made significant waves with the release of their self-titled EP "@Peace" in 2011, which introduced listeners to their unique approach to hip hop. They continued to explore and expand their musical and lyrical depth with projects like "Girl Songs" (2013) and their critically acclaimed full-length album, "@Peace and the Plutonian Noise Symphony" (2014), which won them the NZ Music Award for Best Urban/Hip Hop Album. Then came “The Soulseek Files”, which offered more of their signature blend of insightful poetry over innovative beats. Their last project, “Pieces” shown in 2015, further cemented their place in the New Zealand music legacy before they eventually disbanded, leaving behind a discography that remains influential among aficionados of thought-provoking hip hop.
