He rose to fame with his interpretation of the song "Linda flor," which became a hallmark of his career. Urbina specializes in the huaino cajamarquino style, a traditional music genre from his native region. His career began in the early 1980s as part of the band Los Cristales, before transitioning to a successful solo career. Over the years, he has released several albums, including *Recuerdos de amor*, *Linda flor*, *Cumbias con Silverio Urbina*, and *Corazón cajamarquino*. His music often blends traditional Andean rhythms with contemporary styles like cumbia. Urbina has received numerous awards, including being named "Hijo Predilecto de Cajamarca" in 2009.

In recent years, Urbina has continued to produce music, releasing singles such as "Mujer Hilandera" and "Jardín de Amor."
