Hectorine is a music project led by Oakland resident Sarah Gagnon, named after her paternal French Canadian grandmother. The group released their eponymous debut folk pop album "Hectorine" in 2019, followed by their sophomore record "Tears" in 2021, which was created on the banks of the Yuba River and released on Paisley Shirt Records. Hectorine's sound is characterized by swirling psychedelic and beguiling songs that pulse with sensitivity and warmth. The band currently includes Laura Adkins on drums, Betsy Gran on keyboards, Geoff Saba on bass, Max Shanley on lead guitar, Tika Hall on auxiliary percussion, and Jeanne Oss on saxophone. They are working on their third album, "Arrow of Love," which is expected to feature a prominent saxophone presence and is slated for release in late 2024.
Hectorine's music often explores ethereal, atmospheric, and art pop-inspired themes, as noted by Kevin Linn of Paisley Shirt Records. Their evolving sound reflects a deep connection to both folk and psychedelic elements, creating a unique musical experience.
