The Neon Judgement is a pioneering band in the realm of electronic music, especially noted for their significant influence on the development of the EBM (Electronic Body Music) and new wave scenes. Hailing from Belgium, the duo consists of Dirk Da Davo (synthesizers and vocals) and TB Frank (guitar and vocals), who began experimenting with the emerging sounds of electronic music in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Their sound is characterized by a gritty blend of synthesizers, guitar, and commanding vocals, combining the energy of punk with the futuristic aesthetics of synth-pop and industrial sounds. The Neon Judgement's early works were embraced by the underground music scenes in Europe and North America, with seminal tracks like "TV Treated" and releases such as "Mafu Cage" and the compilation "Early Tapes" underscoring their innovation and raw appeal. Throughout the 1980s and beyond, the duo continued to innovate, influencing the darker sub-genres of electronic music, as displayed in their more recent remix releases "TV Treated (Dave Clarke / Radical G Remixes)" and collaborations with artists like Jimmy Edgar and DJ Hell. Although The Neon Judgement called it quits in 2015, their music remains a cornerstone within alternative electronic circles, immortalized by a discography that encapsulates the mood of a generation pushing the boundaries of sound.
