Alphataurus

Alphataurus is an Italian progressive rock band that first emerged in the early 1970s, part of the vibrant wave of Italian prog (often called "Rock Progressivo Italiano") alongside acts like Banco del Mutuo Soccorso and PFM. Hailing from Milan, the original lineup—including members like Pietro Pellegrini (keyboards) and Guido Wassermann (guitar)—released their self-titled debut album in 1973, blending complex compositions, Hammond organ-driven melodies, and sci-fi themes. Despite critical acclaim, internal tensions led to their split by the late '70s, leaving behind a cult-classic legacy.

Decades later, Alphataurus reformed in the 2000s with a mix of original and new members, reigniting their intricate, symphonic sound. Their comeback album *AttosecondO* (2012) and later works like *2084: viaggio nel nulla* (2023) showcase their knack for epic storytelling and lush instrumentation, proving they’ve still got that cosmic-prog magic. With live releases like *Prime Numbers - Live* and *Live in Bloom*, they’ve kept fans hooked on their hypnotic blend of retro vibes and modern ambition. Still flying under the mainstream radar, Alphataurus remains a gem for prog enthusiasts craving drama, complexity, and a dash of Italian flair.
