Chipzel

Chipzel is the pseudonym of Niamh Houston, an immensely talented chiptune musician and composer from Northern Ireland, renowned for her ability to create energetic and infectious beats using vintage gaming hardware, particularly the Game Boy. Her music career began to pick up steam with the release of "Phonetic Symphony" and further escalated with "Disconnected," which showcased her talent in crafting melodies that resonate with the nostalgia of retro gaming while infusing them with a contemporary electronic vibe.

Chipzel reached a broader audience when she composed the addictive soundtrack for the indie game "Super Hexagon," which received critical acclaim for its pulsating rhythms and became an integral part of the gaming experience. Her skills as a composer were further showcased in successful projects such as the "Spectra" soundtrack, with its fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping tunes, and the deeply atmospheric "Only Human." She also ventured into fusing chiptune with other game soundtracks, evident in works like "Chipped of the Necrodancer," a remix album for the game "Crypt of the NecroDancer." Chipzel has since continued to make her mark in the gaming industry with memorable soundtracks for "Interstellaria" and "Octahedron." More recently, her talents have underpinned the charming and witty roguelike game "Dicey Dungeons," followed by its much-anticipated expansion, "Dicey Dungeons: Reunion," where her music perfectly complements the game's quirky and adventurous spirit. With her unique blend of old-school chip music and modern electronic elements, Chipzel continues to be an influential figure in the chiptune genre and video game music scene.
