Mountain of Smoke

Mountain of Smoke is a metal band that began in 2013 as a two-piece drum and bass outfit. Founded by Pj Costigan and Brooks Martin, they aimed to create something innovative, heavily influenced by science fiction themes. Their early work drew inspiration from the sci-fi classic "Blade Runner." Over time, they expanded their lineup, notably adding Alex Johnson on lap steel and later Kyle Shutt of The Sword on guitar. This evolution marked them as a significant force in the doom metal genre, with a sound that combines heavy distortion with elements of sci-fi narratives.

Their discography includes albums like "Gods of Biomechanics," which broadened their sonic landscape and explored the mythology of "Blade Runner" further. With Shutt's addition, the band gained even more destructive power, enriching their live performances and recording sessions. Their music continues to delve deep into sci-fi themes and high-volume metallic soundscapes. The band has shared stages with prominent acts like Black Cobra, Fu Manchu, and Conan, solidifying their place in the heavy music scene.
