Lt. Stitchie

Lt. Stitchie is a pioneering Jamaican dancehall artist known for his rapid-fire delivery, clever wordplay, and influential role in shaping the dancehall genre through the 1980s and 1990s. Originally a teacher named Cleveland Laing, he began his music career as DJ Ranking Noseworthy before adopting the stage name Stitchie. He gained prominence for his humorous and socially conscious lyrics, often blending storytelling with infectious beats, and he was one of the first dancehall artists to be signed to a major label when Atlantic Records picked him up in the late '80s.

In the late '90s, following a near-fatal car accident, Lt. Stitchie experienced a spiritual awakening and transitioned to gospel reggae, bringing the same fiery energy and lyrical sharpness to faith-based music. His catalog has remained diverse and extensive, rooted deeply in Jamaican musical traditions while continuously evolving. A respected veteran in both secular and gospel circles, Lt. Stitchie continues to inspire audiences worldwide with his powerful performances and messages.
