La Vela Puerca

La Vela Puerca is a band synonymous with the vibrant tapestry of Uruguayan rock music. Originally formed in 1995 in Montevideo, the group taps into an eclectic blend of rock, ska, and reggae, to create a sound that is both energetic and socially conscious. Their members include lead singers and guitarists Sebastián "Enano" Teysera and Sebastián "Cebolla" Cebreiro, guitarist Santiago Butler, bassist Nicolás Mandrini, drummer José Canedo, trumpeter Alejandro Piccone, trombonist Carlos Quijano, and saxophonist Rafael Di Bello—a lineup that has remained remarkably consistent over the years.

La Vela Puerca achieved its initial mainstream success with its debut album "Deskarado" in 1998, produced by two legendary Argentine musicians, Gustavo Santaolalla and Aníbal Kerpel. Since then, the band has carved out a significant place in Latin American rock, releasing several albums that showcase their growth both musically and lyrically. Known for its energetic live performances, the group has built a loyal following across Latin America and beyond. Their more recent works, including singles like "No Sé" and "Discopático," and albums such as "Destilar," continue to speak to a generation with themes that encompass socio-political commentary and introspective musings, all while maintaining their staple vibrant, high-spirited sounds. Notable for their powerful live albums, tracks like "De No Olvidar (En Vivo)" and "Frágil (En Vivo)" capture the infectious spirit and authentic connection the band shares with its audience during performances.
