sacredsouls

Thee Sacred Souls is a soulful trio from San Diego, formed in 2019 by bassist Sal Samano, drummer Alex Garcia, and vocalist Josh Lane. The band draws deep inspiration from classic soul, Chicano soul, gospel, and oldies music, channeling the spirit of 1960s soul and rhythm and blues with a fresh yet timeless sound. Garcia and Samano, childhood friends who bonded over their love of soul music, began making demos together before connecting with Lane, whose smooth, expressive voice added a compelling dimension to the group. Their debut self-titled album, released in 2022 on Daptone Records, quickly garnered attention for its authentic yet modern take on soul, with the single "Can I Call You Rose?" becoming a standout track. Thee Sacred Souls have toured extensively across North America and Europe, earning a dedicated fanbase and celebrity admirers like SZA and Alicia Keys. Their music often celebrates independent women and carries a heartfelt, emotional resonance born from their tight-knit bond and experiences on the road.

The band’s sound reflects their cultural roots and upbringing in Southern California, drawing on influences ranging from Sunny and the Sunliners to Stax Records legends like Otis Redding and Isaac Hayes. Their connection goes beyond just music; it’s a shared history and passion that has shaped their unique groove. Thee Sacred Souls have become known for their live performances, expanding to an ensemble of up to seven musicians, and continue to evolve as they work on new material to build upon their promising start in the soul music scene.
