Gwilym Simcock is a British jazz pianist and composer known for his innovative and lyrical playing style. Born in 1981, he began playing piano at the age of four and later studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Simcock has released numerous critically acclaimed albums as a leader, including "Near and Now" (2016) and "Birdsong" (2018), and has collaborated with a wide range of musicians, including saxophonist Evan Parker, trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, and singer Norma Winstone. His compositions often draw inspiration from classical music, folk, and electronic music, creating a unique and captivating sound.
