Typhoon

Typhoon is an indie rock band from Portland, Oregon, known for crafting emotionally charged, orchestral music that often dwells on themes of mortality, trauma, and personal growth. The band was formed in the early 2000s by singer-songwriter Kyle Morton, and over time, it swelled into a sizable collective, with a lineup that has included upwards of a dozen members at times. Typhoon's signature sound features a wide array of instruments, from traditional rock staples like guitar and drums to strings, horns, and even unconventional noisemakers, which they harmonize into a lush, layered, and dynamic soundscape.

Their career includes a number of critically acclaimed albums that showcase their intricate arrangements and poetic lyricism. "White Lighter" (10th Anniversary Edition) commemorates a decade since the release of the album that brought them widespread attention, with its rich storytelling and complex musicianship capturing the hearts of indie music enthusiasts. With more recent releases like "Sympathetic Magic" and "Welcome to the Endgame," Typhoon continues to evolve, blending their hallmark orchestral indie rock with introspective lyrics, confronting the chaos of the contemporary world. The band's depth is further exhibited in acoustic renditions and remixes, such as "CPR (Acoustic) [Bonus Track]" and "Post Script (East Forest Remix)," which demonstrate their versatility and the poignancy of their songwriting even in stripped-down forms.
