Delain

Delain is a Dutch symphonic metal band that was originally formed in 2002 by former Within Temptation keyboardist Martijn Westerholt, and Charlotte Wessels. Known for their heavy riffs combined with cinematic orchestral arrangements and soaring female vocals, Delain has carved out a notable niche in the symphonic metal genre. After a significant lineup change in 2020, the band's structure shifted, with Westerholt announcing in February of that year that Delain would continue as his solo project. Despite the changes in lineup, Delain has continued to produce music that resonates with their fanbase.

Over the years, Delain has developed a robust discography and has cultivated an enthusiastic international following. Their most recent releases, including tracks such as "Symphonic Dark Waters" and "Dark Waters", signal a sustained and ambitious direction in the symphonic metal tradition. With haunting tracks like "Queen of Shadow" and the driving force of "Moth to a Flame", the band showcases its ability to blend melodic sensibility with lyrical depth. Songs like "Beneath" and "The Quest and the Curse" exemplify the epic and powerful storytelling that Delain is known for, while "Everstrong" and "Doorway of Night" highlight the band's dynamic range and poignant atmospheres. Additions like "Vita Nova" and "The Bell" continue to expand Delain's repertoire, promising to elevate their status and influence in the metal scene even further.
