Der Plan

Der Plan is a pioneering figure in the German electronic and new wave scene, known for their quirky, avant-garde fusion of music that combines elements of synth-pop, electronic music, and performance art. Formed in 1979 in Düsseldorf by Moritz R®, Frank Fenstermacher, and Kurt Dahlke (a.k.a. Pyrolator), Der Plan marked their territory as part of the Neue Deutsche Welle movement, but they stood out due to their unique approach to music and aesthetics. Instead of singing in the traditional rock idiom, they opted for a more theatrical and off-kilter expression, with their themes often delving into satire and social criticism.

Throughout their career, Der Plan has maintained a penchant for experimental sounds, often imbued with deadpan humor and surrealist imagery. Their discography boasts titles like "Gefährliche Clowns" and "Es ist eine fremde und seltsame Welt," which reflect the band's attraction to concepts that are simultaneously bizarre and engaging. After taking hiatuses and undergoing various lineup changes, the group managed to stay relevant and continue to influence the German music scene. With their 2020 release, "Save Your Software," Der Plan nod to their early roots while exploring contemporary electronic landscapes, proving that their creative spark remains undimmed by the passage of time. The band's enduring legacy is evident in their consistent ability to challenge genre boundaries and redefine the limits of avant-garde music.
