Banda Uó is a Brazilian tecnobrega band that originated from the city of Goiânia, formed by members Davi Sabbag, Mateus Carrilho, and Candy Mel in 2010. They burst onto the music scene with an innovative blend of pop, electronic music, and elements of regional Brazilian rhythms, particularly tecnobrega—a modern reinterpretation of the traditional brega style from the north of Brazil. The trio quickly became known for their humorous and irreverent take on pop culture, as well as their vibrant and often gender-bending aesthetics, making them a fresh and provocative force in the Brazilian music scene.
The band gained widespread popularity with the release of their debut album "Motel" in 2012, which featured a mix of infectious dance tracks and catchy melodies. Their success grew with the follow-up EP "Cowboy" and singles like "Catraca," created in collaboration with the iconic funk artist Mr Catra. Banda Uó's vibrant live performances, exemplified in "Turnê Motel - Ao Vivo No Cine Joia," showcased their dynamic stage presence and further solidified their reputation as a must-see act. Despite announcing their disbandment in 2018, Banda Uó left a lasting mark on the Brazilian music landscape with songs like "Tô Na Rua" and "Veneno," which continue to resonate with fans for their unique blend of regional Brazilian sounds and contemporary pop flair.
