Pasi Hyökki
Pasi Hyökki is a Finnish choral conductor deeply rooted in Scandinavia's rich choral tradition, best known for his work with male voice choirs. As the long-time artistic director of Helsinki’s storied YL Male Voice Choir (Ylioppilaskunnan Laulajat), he’s become a guardian of Finland’s male choir legacy while breathing new life into classics by composers like Sibelius, Kuula, and Rautavaara. His recordings, ranging from the shimmering harmonies of *VALO - Tapiolan kuoron joulu* to the earthy folk-inspired *Marjatta, the Lowly Maiden*, showcase his knack for balancing Nordic precision with emotional warmth. When he’s not leading YL or the Tapiola Choir, you’ll find him championing contemporary works – proof that even centuries-old choir traditions can keep evolving under passionate direction.
