Los Piratas was a Spanish alternative rock band that found its footing in the music scene in the early 1990s. Hailing from Vigo, Galicia, the group quickly established themselves as a leading force in the Spanish rock circuit. The band consisted of Ivan Ferreiro on vocals and keyboards, his brother Amaro Ferreiro on guitar, and Paco Serén on guitar, with various members joining and leaving throughout their tenure, including a strong rhythm section that contributed to their distinctive sound.
The group's music evolved over time, starting with a raw and edgy rock style in their early days, as heard on their early albums, while later transitioning towards a more elaborate and electronic-infused sound in the later years. Albums like "Ultrasónica" and its counterpart "Ultrasonica + Sesiones perdidas" illustrate this shift, showcasing a mature blend of layered guitars, intricate arrangements, and evocative lyrical content. Their live performances were known for being electrifying and visceral, exemplified by the energy captured in their live release "Disco Pirata (En Directo)". Despite disbanding in 2003, the legacy of Los Piratas endures in Spanish rock history, their music characterized by its emotional depth and experimental approach, leaving behind a treasure trove of music that still resonates with fans new and old, as celebrated in their compilation albums such as "Fin de la primera parte" and "Fin de la segunda parte".
