Essence & Gold Country

Essence & Gold Country is the creative project of Essence Goldman, a sixth-generation San Franciscan and award-winning singer-songwriter deeply rooted in folk, Americana, and country music traditions. Raised by bohemian artist parents from the Haight-Ashbury “Summer of Love” era, Essence draws inspiration from songwriting legends like Tom Petty, Lucinda Williams, Dolly Parton, and Gillian Welch. Her music often explores themes of grief, resilience, and renewal, informed by her personal journey through heartbreak, single motherhood, and rediscovery as an artist. Essence & Gold Country's album *Father’s Daughter* is a heartfelt collection reflecting these experiences, blending Appalachian and roots influences with intimate storytelling.

In addition to her recording career, Essence is a voice coach and founder of Believe Music Heals, a nonprofit dedicated to the healing power of music. She has received significant recognition, including national and international attention through NPR’s Tiny Desk series for her work with Bernie and the Believers, which is currently being developed into a feature film. Her musical partnership with guitarist and producer Danny Uzilevsky adds dynamic male/female harmonies to her sound, making Essence & Gold Country a fresh and powerful voice on the Americana scene. The project continues to tour and release new music, connecting deeply with audiences through genuine storytelling and soulful performances.
