Pierre de Bethmann Quartet

Pierre de Bethmann Quartet is a contemporary jazz group led by pianist Pierre de Bethmann, a Paris-born musician who began classical piano lessons at age six and later fully embraced jazz. After initially working as a management consultant, Bethmann devoted himself to music in 1995 and quickly established himself through innovative projects such as the trio PRYSM and the ILIUM group. His quartet, featuring long-time collaborator saxophonist David El Malek along with Antoine Paganotti and Simon Tailleu, is known for its poetic compositional style and intense collective energy, blending complex harmonies and rhythms with deeply expressive melodies.

The Pierre de Bethmann Quartet came together following the first COVID-19 lockdown, evolving from duo sessions into a full band with a shared vision of creating music that confronts contemporary uncertainties while celebrating the healing power of jazz. Their repertoire explores a range of musical forms with a fresh and thoughtful approach, capturing both a respect for jazz tradition and a hopeful look toward the future. The group has released several albums including "Go," "Credo," and "Agapé," reflecting Pierre de Bethmann’s continuous creativity and collaborative spirit within the vibrant European jazz scene.
