Jaswinder Brar is widely celebrated as one of the most beloved voices in Punjabi folk and Bhangra music, often hailed as the “Folk Queen” and affectionately called “Akharheya Di Rani” for her magnetic stage presence and engaging performances. Born as Jaswinder Kaur Brar in the village of Mandi Kalanwali, she comes from a Jatt-Sikh family and first caught the spotlight with her debut album “Keemti Cheez” in 1990, which set her on a path of artistic acclaim. Known for blending influences from Haryanvi folk and Pakistani melodies, Brar’s music is rich with storytelling and cultural authenticity, resonating deeply with audiences across generations. Her recent releases like “Majha Malwa,” “AKH,” “Jatt Nu Zameen,” and others continue to showcase her distinctive sound and passion for preserving Punjabi musical traditions.
