Alabama is an American country and Southern rock band formed in Fort Payne, Alabama, in 1969. The band was founded by Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass guitar, background vocals), along with Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, keyboards). Known for blending traditional country music with Southern rock, their sound also includes elements of gospel and pop music.

Alabama enjoyed immense popularity during the 1980s and 1990s, but their roots trace back to the early 1970s when they started as a band called Wildcountry. After honing their skills and style, they changed their name to Alabama in 1977 and achieved mainstream success after signing a recording deal with RCA Nashville. Over the years, they have charted over 40 number one hit singles on the Billboard country charts and have sold over 75 million records, making them one of the world's best-selling bands of all time. Their career accolades include over 170 awards from various organizations, including the Country Music Association (CMA), the Academy of Country Music (ACM), and the Grammys.
